My Background
Pianist, Writer & Composer
1991 - Present
At the age of 18, Thalis met and was inspired by his hero Ian Gomes, a pianist at the Savoy hotel London. With his encouragement, and an introduction to Eugene Jones from the British Academy of Song Writers, he was given his first break into the music industry as house pianist at Ronnie Scott’s for their showcase evenings. He also went on to play in other London clubs, including the Limelight Club and the Astoria.
During this time, his talent was spotted by Sternberg Clarke, an entertainment agency, which gave him regular work across Europe playing for many famous musicians, including Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, Boy George, Ian Brown and Jay Z.
For the next five years Thalis had the honour of playing as house pianist for The Wimbledon Tennis Championships, where he met and played for many celebrities, including a private party for Ian Paice from Deep Purple.
Thalis achieved another lifetime ambition when he played at the famous Maida Vale Studios in London for a live performance with SLK as part of BBC Introducing and also for Reprezent Radio.
Song Writing
Running parallel to the live gigs Thalis continued his song writing and, in 1996, he had his first hit record, ‘Check Me Out’, the video for which was directed by Guy Ritchie. With this success, he was signed to EMI as a song writer and went on to write further hits with artists such as: Faithless, Queen Latifah, Xavier Naidoo, Udo Lindenburg & many more.
In 2020, Thalis had success with a re-mix of a track called ‘Madan’ for the group Haska, which is currently streaming on Spotify, YouTube & all music platforms.
He currently has a solo ambient piano project on Spotify called Thalis, which is performing brilliantly, check it out!
